I just wondered how long you are allowed to spend in France? Is there a limit, like two months or six months? Do you spend several months in the summer?

Hi Jane,
You can spend a total of 90 days in France in any 180 day period. So, for example, you spend 90 consecutive days, then you need to spend 90 days outside. And it’s not just France, this rule applies overall to the so-called Schengen Zone, made up of most of the countries of the European Union. It’s possible to get longer-stay visas for France (I have) but there’s some paperwork involved.
As for the best time to visit, I like spring and fall the best, with a slight nod to spring because the days are getting longer rather than shorter.
